Sustaining Tenancies is a homelessness prevention initiative which aims to assist vulnerable tenants at immediate risk of losing their tenancy. We offer individualised, practical support to tenants by addressing their current needs and working to develop a Sustaining Tenancies whānau-led goal plan.
Our service can be accessed by anyone in the Upper Hutt area whose tenancy may be at risk.
What We Offer
Examples of some of the situations we work with include (but are not limited to):
Disputes with landlords and/or neighbours
Mental or Physical Health concerns
Maintenance/damages to property
Sustaining Tenancies is a prevention programme which provides funding for community-based providers to support individuals and whānau in private or public housing. The support helps vulnerable individuals and those with complex and/or multiple needs to live independently and address any issues that are putting their tenancy at risk.
Our service is centred on the individual or whānau and supports them to develop a Sustaining Tenancies whānau-led goal plan, to help address their needs and retain their tenancy. We offer practical based solutions and partner with other agencies where necessary.
Sustaining Tenacies is a collaboration between Atareira and Te Waka Whaiora.
