I am the manager of Atareira and have been since October 2007. I am a New Zealand woman with Ngai Tahu ties to the South island but born, bred and a fan of Wellington. I trained as a nurse here and started working in mental health before travelling and settling in Britain where I continued working in mental health settings in the community.
After many years away I returned with my British husband and three young children to establish our home here.
Working in Service User led organisations is what I enjoy. I get most satisfaction from providing people with what they want; good information, meaningful support and a safe and comfortable environment.
I offer Atareira a commitment to good mental health practice, an interest in new and innovative services and a penchant for clear systems and management. I get from Atareira a busy and varied work day, the opportunity to meet interesting people and share their stories and efforts, networks with others working in mental health around the country, the support of a good staff team and guidance from our valued board.
I am based at our office and can be contacted on the main line. I welcome the opportunity to talk to you about our services and organisation.
