My role in the organisation is to facilitate
Whāia te iti kahurangi in partnership with McGirr Training.  Having previously accessed mental health services in my 20's I am able to work with compassion alongside tangata whaiora (mental health consumers) using our service.  My background is one of mixed ethnicities where I identify and acknowledge my tangata whenua standing as the more dominant.  The paradox to this is that I am more comfortable in the Pakeha world due arriving too soon for the resurgence in te reo.  I believe good mental health systems use strengths based approaches when working alongside tangata whaiora and this is one of the ways in which we promote and expect good outcomes at Whai Kahurangi.  I believe my own strengths have brought me here and let me model positive actions, choices and options for our students.  I am passionate about what we do and offer at Whai Kahurangi and look forward to the challenge of continuing to reach for excellence.
