Atareira is that special time when night ends and just before the dawn breaks. The name Atareira (pronounced Ah-ta-ray-rah) reflects the idea of "Moving to a world of light" (Ki te Whai ao ki te ao Mārama) and is the rebranding of the Greater Wellington branch of Schizophrenia Fellowship NZ.
As well as our new name, we also have a new logo, which is symbolic of the ripple effect of mental distress within families/whānau and friendships. It signifies the caring that can reach out and around the distressed person.
This caring can be more effective when friends and families are strengthened by the education, advocacy and support from a Family/Whānau Support Service.
The ever lightening ellipses in the logo indicate that there is a move from a dark place, through education, grief work and understanding. In other words, they symbolise the recovery process, towards a lighter place of life experience for the family/whānau.
